Activities: It is necessary that the fresh engineering graduates are not only competent in their knowledge of technical subjects but also must have the soft skills. They must be capable of communicating with others at times with foreigners, who have different cultural backgrounds and native languages. They must be excellent in written as well as oral communication skills. The students also must have the ability to go into the details and the temperament to work in a group. They must be imbibed with the qualities of team building and leadership.
With the above qualities to be acquired by the students SSIST is organizing a number of extra curricular and co-curricular activities. A unique scheme of students council nominated by the institute based on merit is in operation. The topper of the college will be the President of the students' council, the second ranker will be the Vice President, both belonging to the final year class. Secretary and Joint Secretary are nominated from the pre-final class. Members of the council, one from teach sections are nominated on the basis of merit. This council is responsible for effective interaction with the college management and also the conduct of the college day celebrations.
The class review committees and technical associations are also run by students based on certain criteria which promoter effectiveness in their functioning IEEE, ISTE, NSS/NCC, sports and cultural activities are conducted by SSIST which are improving the capabilities of students in various skills.
Students' Council: A Students' Council is nominated by the college management, based upon the meritorious performance of the students. The council is responsible for conducting all extra curricular activities in the college under the active guidance of senior teaching faculty. They also take part in interactive sessions with the faculty for removal of any deficiency and difficulties in the system.
ISTE Activities for the Staff and Students : i) The Local Chapter of the Staff is functioning actively.
ii) The Local Chapter of students is very active with a total membership of 680 students, the largest in the state.
iii) A number of activities are organised in the college and students are deputed to participate in seminars conducted elsewhere.
Merit Awards and Seminars organised with Participation of ISTE local Chapter and ISTE Students' Chapter
i) Merit Awards for students' on an annual basis are instituted by the A.P. Ranganatha Swamy Memorial Charitable Trust. The college organizes this at the State level.
ii) A.P. Ranganatha Swamy Memorial SSIST Students' Technical Seminar at National Level on bi-annual basis is instituted by the A.P Ranganatha Swamy Memorial Charitable Trust. The ISTE local chapter of the college organizes this Seminar.
