Regulations


Instructional pattern

The B.Tech. Degree Courses are offered in 4 academic years as follows :

  1. Ist Year - Annual pattern
  2. II, III & IV years - Semester pattern with 2 semesters each

Minimum Instructional Days:

  1. Ist Year - 180 days
  2. II, III & IV Years - 180 days with 2 semesters of 90 days each

Attendance Requirements


      • 75% attendance in aggregate for all subjects of I year and / or each semester
      • Condonation of shortage of attendance up to 10% on medical grounds

Promotion requirements
Students will be promoted to II year I semester and subsequent years if they satisfy the following requirements.
A student shall be promoted to II year if he puts in necessary attendance in I year.

      • A student shall be promoted to III year from II year if he puts in necessary attendance in II year I & II semesters           and also secures 42 credits from the following Examinations
      • One regular examination of I year
      • One supplementary examination of I year.
      • One regular examination of II year I semester.

A Student shall be promoted to IV year I semester from III year if he puts in necessary attendance in III year I & II semesters and secures 70 credits from the following examinations

      • Two Regular and two Supplementary examinations of I year
      • Two regular and one supplementary examinations of II Year I semester.
      • One regular and one supplementary examinations of II year II semester.
      • One regular examination of III year I semester.

A Student shall register and put up minimum attendance in all 224 credits and earn the 216 credits. Marks obtained in the best 216 credits shall be considered for the calculation of percentage of marks.

Award of Degree and Division

A Student will be awarded degree and division based on the following regulations.

      • A student shall earn all 212 credits offered as indicated in the course structure.
      • A student will be awarded I class with distinction if he/she secures at least 70% of marks in aggregate of 216             credits.
      • A student will be awarded I class if he/she secures less than 70% of marks in aggregate but not less than 60%           of marks in aggregate of 216 credits.
      • A student will be awarded II class if he/she secures less than 60% marks in aggregate but not less than 50% of          marks in aggregate of 216 credits.
      • A student will be awarded pass class if he/she secures less than 50% marks but not less than 40% of marks in          aggregate of 216 credits.

The marks scored will be aggregated from sessional marks as well as end examination marks scored in the examinations conducted by University. Sessional marks constitute 20% of total marks in various subjects as per the course structure. Hence it is necessary for students to continuously study during the academic sessions to score high marks in sessionals and also ensure high percentage of marks to secure better division.
